Sains dan Al – Quran: Proses Terjadinya Gerhana Matahari

Sebagian orang menganggap terjadinya gerhana matahari merupakan hal yang istimewa dan mengagumkan. Sehingga fenomena gerhana sering disangkut pautkan dengan kelahiran maupun kematian, padahal kejadian ini terjadi disebabkan bulan menutup matahari, sehingga cahaya matahari tidak sampai ke bumi. Kalimat bulan menutup matahari sepertinya hal yang mustahil mengingat diameter matahari  lebih besar dari pada bulan, tetapi jika kita membandingkan jarak matahari dari bumi dengan jarak bulan dari bumi, ini bukanlah hal yang mustahil. Sehingga gerhana merupakan hal yang sederhana, kerena proses terjadinya dapat digambarkan dengan jelas. Dalam tulisan ini peneliti mencoba menggambarkan proses terjadinya gerhana matahari berdasarkan sains, QS. Al – Baqarah [2] :189, QS. Yunus [10] : 5, QS. Yasin [36] : 39 dan 40. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) bulan baru terjadi setiap  hari, (2) Bulan sabit menjadi tanda bahwa esok merupakan bulan baru, (3) Orbit bulan berbentuk elips, sehingga jarak bulan dengan bumi tidak konstan, ini yang menyebabkan terjadinya gerhana matahari total, cincin dan sebagian, (4) bumi, bulan, matahari dan benda – benda langit lainnya bukanlah sebuah tubuh yang kaku, namun memiliki akal.
