Diskursus sosiologi ekonomi konvensional belum berhasil mewujudkan cita-cita kesejahteraan sosial. Terbukti dari masih banyak terjadinya kesenjangan sosial dan kemiskinan di berbagai belahan bumi. Situasi ini mengakibatkan konflik sosiologi ekonomi yang memakan banyak korban. Perdamaian dunia dan kemajuan peradaban masih sulit diwujudkan karena terbebani tanggung jawab penyelesaian konflik. Dibutuhkan solusi yang komprehensif, menyelesaikan akar permasalahan serta mengobati semua dampak yang ditimbulkannya. Berdasarkan fakta tersebut maka permasalahan penelitian ini adalah bahwa belum adanya model sosiologi ekonomi yang menyeluruh yang mampu mengatasi masalah kesenjangan sosial dan kemiskinan sebagai sumber terjadinya konflik. Oleh sebab itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan suatu model sosiologi ekonomi yang bisa menjadi solusi praktis bagi semua aspek permasalahan sosiologi ekonomi di masa ini dan masa mendatang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif, berbasis riset kepustakaan, ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an, publikasi penelitian, jurnal, seminar, dan artikel. Metode penafsiran yang digunakan adalah metode tafsir tematik (tafsir maudhû’i) karena dipandang bisa menghasilkan penafsiran yang komprehensif, sistematis, dan mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini nememukan bahwa model sosiologi ekonomi dalam perspektif Al-Qur’an memfokuskan pada pemenuhan 5 prinsip sebagai pedoman utama bagi seluruh pemahaman sosiologi ekonomi, yaitu prinsip ketuhanan, prinsip kesejahteraan, prinsip keadilan, prinsip distribusi kekayaan, dan prinsip antisipasi krisis.
